Mrs. B’s English Class

I was very skeptic when i heard that Mrs. B was a wonderful teacher. I didn’t believe that any college teachers were good teachers. But I have to agree with the people i got advice from and I am happy to say that I love my english class. It is wonderful. Mrs. B keeps it interesting. So no matter how great the temperature feels, I was always willing to stay awake to listen to her. The assignments helped me become a far bette writer than I once was. I learned new types of essays and terms.

My favorite time of the class had to be the essays in Models for Writers. They were entertaining as well as informative. I especially loved the discussions in class. I would most definitely recommend any incoming freshman to take her class.

Do What You Love

In every aspect of life, you are stuck with choices. Some choices are easy and some are so hard that they alter the direction of your life. Not everyone is faced with these decisions. Some find ways to avoid those big decisions. Needless to say, they don’t lead a very interesting life. What is life without chances. Who wants a dull, boring life? I sometimes wish my life was easy, but then again, I dont want my life to be dull. Truthfully, life is what you make of it. I am proud to say that my life is awesome.

My life is so good. I have everything i could’ve ever wanted. I have wonderful friends, a great and promising career in table tennis and a wonderful lady friend. I hate to make hard choices myself. Such as, choosing table tennis over football and wondering if i can actually make a relationship work at such a vital time in my life.

I Like Poetry..

I like poetry. It is one of the trademarks of western literature. I guess thats why some of my favorite music is R&B. R&B is pretty much poetry in rhythm. Poetry is what you call an outlet from your heart. All poetry is supposed to be inspired by something. Emily Dickinson’s poetry was sponsored by her understanding that life is hard and life will end soon. This is apparent in her poem “Because I Could Not Stop For Death”. She understands that she has to die soon and that she was holding on for her life and she appreciates death for waiting for her until it was her time to go.

Another poet was Walt Whitman. He worte the poem “O Captain, My Captain” because of his admiration for Abraham Lincoln. He wrote it when the country was in total shock of John Wilkes Booth’s assassination of Lincoln. The poem resembles Abraham Lincoln’s public image as a man who found a way to overcome all the diversity of the country during that time and was able to take control of the turmoil.

I don’t understand why people must always ask the question of who they are. Do you not know, or do you just not care to know? Maybe you think you are supposed to be someone else. Someone more important than yourself. Someone that is supposed to be a world leader or some well-respected person. News flash: you are the same, ordinary person that you were born to be. The only way you will become who you say you want to become is through hard work. You don’t necessarily have to go to colllege or make a million dollars in the stock market. You can work a regular, old nine to five job and and be one of the nicest people anyone has ever known and i promise you that you will be talked about for years to come.

Table Tennis as a Way of Life

Table tennis is a sport that was developed in England in the early 1900′s. It involves two players, one on each side of a long table with a net stretched horizontally across the middle, holding rackets to hit the ball back and forth. When it was first developed, the net was a row of books and the rackets were also books. The ball was a golf ball. It is a high paced game.

There are several different distinct advantages that separates high-class from low-class players in table tennis. The first advantage is reaction time and quick decision making. Those players who play professionally have tremendous reaction time and decision making. Because of the speed of the ball, players have to be able to think on their feet.

A second advantage is practice. Practice makes perfect or so they say. Professional players practice so much, that the strokes on the ball other players find impossible to make, they make them look easy.

Their are players who have made table tennis their job. Over in China, there are four people who are at the top of the pedestal. Their names are Ma Long, Ma Lin, Wang Liqin, and Wang Hao.

Chaos

Chaos is a means of control. The great dictators of yester-year all used chaos to bring control of their countries under them. It is a shame to know that some of the greatest leaders in history were all corrupt in the beginning.

Hitler is one of the most terrorizing men in history. He laid waist to millions of people in his reign of twelve years. He managed to take control when the President of the Reich, Hindenburg, died. The country was in horrible shape. They needed direction and guidance. Hitler provided this. He gave them an orderly place to live and because of this order, people began to accept him as their leader. He began to take advantage of the fact. He filled their heads with hate. He used the german people’s need to blame the loss of their country’s honor in World War I. He blamed the Jews.

Hitler was an incredible leader. He was an incredible spokesperson. You may hate his ideals, but you cannot argue that he did a wonderful job getting his ideals across to the many people of the world.

passive aggressive disorder

Some say that it is not good to be passive agressive. Some say it is good. For those of you who don’t know what this is, it is defined as a long-term (chronic) condition in which a person seems to actively comply with the desires and needs of others, but actually passively resists them. In the process, the person becomes increasingly hostile and angry. i have first-hand experience with this problem.

Passive agressive disorder is a sickness that many people suffer from. They tend to be so angry but they almost never take their anger out on the person who is responsible for the anger. They usually take it out on some unlucky person who happened to be there at the moment. It is not fair to the person who gets caught in the crossfire.

i have Passive-Agressive disorder. I will openly admit it. I have been trying to fix it so much but i can’t help it. I’m so used to holding my anger in and being quiet. I know my ways are hegemonic but i just can’t help it.

My name is..it doesn’t really matter what my name is. Throughout history, famous people, such as Achilles, only wanted one thing out of life:to have their name remembered. But what is in a name that makes it so valuable to be remembered? A name is more than just words. It is your identity. It is the only original thing you have. No one can be you. No matter how much they try, no one can be you. Your name ensures that long after you are gone, you will be remembered. And in the words of Achilles, “my name will keep me alive long after the sands of Greece have hidden me.”

Like i said before, my name is not important. My wish is to be remembered not for what i have accomplished, but for the ideas i have set in place for my grandchildren and great grandchildren. I want to be remembered for my ideals, not just for what i did at a specific moment. I do not want to be a quiz bowl question. And when people refer back to me in the future, they will say what I am most famous for, but when they try to remember my name, they will say,” His name is….it doesn’t matter what his name is.

Victory in the face of defeat.

“Success is counted sweetest by those who ne’er succeed. This is a line from a poem by perhaps one of the greatest and most mysterious poets of all time. Victory is perhaps the sweetest feeling in the world. You practice and practice and practice until you feel as if you are going to fall out, only to practice some more. Ihave been in this situations many, many times. From football to wrestling to quiz bowl to ping pong, I have killed myself for the sake of victory. Now while victory is sweet, there is one thing sweeter: victory in the face of defeat.

Have you ever been in the situation where it feels like it nothing you do is working? It feels like you are in quicksand. The more you fight, the deeper you sink. That’s when the sweeping feeling of guilt bum rushes you and you basically want to give up; however, there is always the one twinkle of hope in all that vast darkness. That little twinkle of hope, is the only thing that can will you on to fight and grab that tree root that will help you pull yourself from the pits of that hell the quicksand is dragging you into. The feeling is sweet, and after that first rush, you want more and more and more.

Hey world, my name is Vincent. For those of you who dont know me, let me tell you a little about myself. I am 5’9″, 255 pounds. I played football for a small school in southwest georgia named Bainbridge High School. I started my senior year, but i played for two years. My team did great things my last two years. My junior year, we made it to the third round before we were eventually put out by state championship runner up Tucker High School. My senior year, we finished the season with eight wins and three losses before a disappointing loss to the Brunswick High School Pirates on their home field. Football was my love. It kept me going during the fall. It was my motivation for the spring. Football taught you how to appreciate the other people of your life. It taught me to trust my friends and my coaches.
